What you can expect at Still Waters:

Professional Personal Life Coaching

Now, you can obtain the prayerful support of a personal life coach while in the comfort and convenience of your own home or office. For all those difficult transitions in life, when you would just like someone to listen, be there for you alone, encourage you and problem solve with you, life coaching is the answer.

There is no connection with any mental health service, diagnostic evaluations or treatment plans. A coach works with the clients to develop together what the client needs to move toward their dream. Within the framework of a Biblical worldview, your values will be supported as plans develop.

If you live in or near the Green Bay, Wisconsin area, face-to-face contacts are an option but most of our work would be by telephone, generally two to four times a month, according to what you would want.

The first contact session can be arranged, free of charge, by contacting our office at 920-336-7005. This session is a get-acquainted session on which we can determine if there is a good "fit" between coach and coachee. (Click here for the Main Coaching page for more information.)

◊Professional Personal Life Coaching Provided within a Biblical  Worldview

It's not just the integration of psychology and theology. It is the use and submission of all psychological knowledge to the authority of Scripture in the context of faith.

It is not just intellectual agreement with the Bible. It is knowledge, agreement and trust in the Person of Jesus Christ of Nazareth to make healing possible.

Psychological work confines itself to an understanding of the inner workings of human beings and how they get along inside themselves and with each other.

Spiritual matters concern the inner workings of human beings, their relationships with others and the world, before a Holy God. Taken together, with God's Truth as the standard, the whole person can be addressed.

The mind, the will and the emotions together make up the soul. The soul coexists in the body with the spirit, and for the regenerated believer, the indwelling Holy Spirit. At Still Waters, it is the awareness of God's plan and purpose for us that allows the fullest understanding of what can go wrong and how to correct it.

Despite true belief, there can remain problems in the soul, the flesh or in relating to the world. Spiritual problems can contribute to apparent personal and relationship problems. Discernment as to the source of difficulties is an integral part of Still Waters professional services.

Barbara L. Klika, MSW, Personal Life Coach is a highly trained professional who continues to update and expand her knowledge of the mind, the will and the emotions through continuing education classes and personal study. Her training enables her to evaluate a wide area of concerns to develop a personally tailored plan to bring about the needed changes.

What you will NOT find at Still Waters:

Scientific-sounding names for interventions that are, at base, religious but outside the parameters of a conservative understanding of Biblical principles do not make them wise. A positive outcome of an intervention also does not guarantee that it is spiritually sound.

You will not find interventions such as: hypnosis, biofeedback, EMDR or guided imagery at Still Waters. The decision not to be involved in these modalities was not reached quickly, but decided after long study, much prayer and based on a belief that these methods are not always consistent with a person's spiritual well being.

Many Christians worry that if
they have DEPRESSION there is something
wrong with their FAITH.

Are you one of them?

These may be your questions (or the person in depression you are trying to encourage) too!

  • Have you wondered if feeling discouraged means you are failing God?
  • Does taking medication mean my faith is weak?
  • Shouldn't Christians who have received the Holy Spirit be protected from depression?
  • Do you feel the need to look "perfect" while your friends seem so high in their faith and you feel so depressed?
  • Do Christians choose to be depressed or are they being tested by God?
  • How do you reconcile unkind or dishonest behavior from those who claim the title of Christian?
  • Why do Christians feel so uncomfortable acknowledging depression?
  • Does Hebrews 10:26 bother you and seem like a condemnation for one in depression?
  • How do I help a friend or relative who is both a Christian Believer and struggling with depression?

After collecting real questions that Christians have, I put my faith and years of counseling and coaching experience to work to respond to these heart cries in a written format. My goal was to provide sound basic information and then address these questions in a conversational style, as though I was sitting together with the questioner.

Now this resource is available for you: one who experiences depression; or a relative or friend of someone in depression. Coaches and therapists may also find it helpful to respond to these difficult issues of the seeming conflict between having faith and experiencing depression.
